Invest in you
I believe therapy is an important investment in your overall wellbeing.
And as someone who admittedly fought this truth for many years myself, I can tell you this:
No amount of DIY self-care practices are going to cut it when what you really need is therapy.
Many of us readily spend money on vacations, beauty appointments and gym memberships in the name of “self-care,” but for some reason, we struggle to find space in our budget for things like therapy, coaching, and more intensive forms of self-improvement. I challenge you, as I’ve challenged myself over the years, to consider why this is.
What about insurance?
I’m going to say something a little controversial here. Are you ready?
As a therapist who strongly believes in providing quality care to my clients, I do not feel that my accepting insurance is in your best interest.
How does that make any sense?
There’s no doubt that using your insurance can be a convenient way to locate providers in your area and make therapy seem more affordable. What you may not know, is that unfortunately, it can also require you to settle for services that might not be the best fit for you and your needs. For instance, using insurance not only limits the therapists who are available to you in-network, it may also restrict how long your therapy treatment lasts and what type of therapy you receive.
Aside from restrictions it places on you, insurance companies often reimburse therapists at low rates, requiring us to take on more clients to make a living. This means more of my time would be spent dealing with insurance paperwork and seeing additional clients, which means less time devoted to you and your needs.
my current fee is $150 per 50-minute session
Because I don’t accept insurance, I’m considered an out-of-network provider. If you’d like to utilize your insurance company’s out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a receipt for each session that you may submit for possible reimbursement.
